Bio

Jorge Ortiz, Ph.D., is a Fulbright scholar from Peru that studied Computer Engineering in Kansas, United States. He worked at Garmin International as a Project Engineer making electronic devices for their aviation division. After moving to Peru as Head of Research and Development at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory, he was the principal investigator for Drone monitoring of active volcanoes in the Andes region. He returned to the U.S. and settled in Austin, Texas as an entrepreneur.

He founded and became CEO of Miragic Labs, creating Virtual and Augmented Reality experiences, some of them merging two of his passions: technology and dancing. During his stay at the University of Kansas, he became the president of the Ballroom Dance Club, and taught partner dance in multiple styles throughout graduate school. In Austin he also taught dancing at a non-profit studio for several years. His flagship virtual reality app, Dance-Virtual, takes his teaching from the real world into a virtual classroom.

Jorge the became the Chief Technology Officer for Froliq, developing interactive visual experiences for customer engagement, training and education for industry partners in the energy and education sectors.
