Even though I was educated into electrical, computing and digital engineering, with base knowledge in software engineering, my entrepreneur spirit led me to use it often. Back when webpages, server-side scripts, and databases where manually crafted, my college roommate and I cofounded a web development company.
I designed, coded, tested and debugged administrative and content management software, and maintained existing software and suite of web applications in PHP, JS & SQL. It always gave mixed feelings when the clients were glad to see their beautiful functioning website but could not appreciate the well-oiled machine that I built for them under the hood. I’m sure they would appreciate it if they understood it, but then again that why they hired us.
