Volcano Monitoring

I was the Principal Investigator for the Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) Volcano Monitoring System project at Jicamarca Radio Observatory. We created customized UAV drones to support reduced air pressure from high altitude volcanos (6000 meters / 19600 feet above sea level), and to carry instrumentation for volcano activity measurement and monitoring.

The project got awarded a grant in the national competition for applied research. I was the PI and technical team lead for this project, with a variety of subject matter vulcanologist experts and engineers in my team.

Total Grant Funding: $141K
Total Project Budget: $217K

I was interviewed in TV Perú – Umbrales, a national TV program focused on research and development, on October 22nd, 2015
